BRANDHOUSE x CRATE BREWERY A day out learning about / drinking craft beer
Last Friday, both Brandhouse London and Leeds offices gathered to reflect on our achievements and share our vision for the future of the agency. We marked this occasion by embarking on a Premium Tour of the renowned Crate Brewery in Hackney Wick, a fascinating corner of East London, where art and creativity meet entrepreneurship in surprising and exciting ways.
The Crate Brewery is a great example of this. Originally started as a pet project by a few brewing enthusiasts, Crate have now grown their business to include a wide range of different craft beers. These are all produced on site, and draw thirsty customers in droves every evening to the graffiti-covered banks of the River Lea. With its amazing bar space set in a disused printing factory, and stylishly furnished with whatever was on hand at the time, Crate epitomises the uber-creative, DIY spirit that has made Hackney Wick famous.
Led by our charismatic guide James, we discovered the inspiring world of craft beer and its origins. Born in the micro-breweries of Californian beer fanatics, who were fed up that they couldn’t find decent beer in American supermarkets, craft beer today has grown globally to mean huge competition for the giant multinational breweries.
Above all, we learned that craft beer comes from a place of sheer passion and and unbridled creativity, brought to life through the fruitful communion of tradition and modernity. And, last but definitely not least, we drank lots and lots of lovely beer. Cheers!
